Join the Sherwood PTA

Hey! We just met you...

AND, this might be crazy, but you're a parent - join the PTA, maybe?

Being  involved in the PTA is more than meetings, planning events, fundraising and volunteering - it's about creating and fostering a community. When parents can develop friendships with other parents in  their neighborhood, it creates a bond that makes our school safer and  more welcoming at the same time. When children witness their parents  being involved, thinking of others, and giving their time, money or  talents - it shows them by example how to make this world a better place.

By coming together and getting to know each other, we are able to make our world and school a better place. The more connected we are, the stronger and  louder our voice becomes. This is why the PTA was created; to be an advocate of the students and support the school.

While  great principals administer and great teachers teach, a great PTA creates, supports, and maintains the spirit of community which makes  school a special place.

Who is the PTA?

The  PTA is a national non-profit organization that  dedicates itself to  advocating for the health, welfare, and safety of  children, youth, and  families for more than 100 years.  It's their vision to make every  child's potential a reality by engaging and empowering families and  communities.

PTA Purpose -

  • A powerful voice for all children.
  • A relevant resource for families and communities.
  • A strong advocate for the education and well-being of every child.
  • To promote the welfare of the children and youth in home, school, community, and place of worship.
  • To raise the standards of home life.
  • To secure adequate laws for the care and protection of children and youth.
  • To  bring into closer relation in the home and the school, that  parents and  teachers may cooperate intelligently in the education of  children and  youth.
  • To develop between educators and the general public such  united  efforts as will secure for all children and youth the highest   advantages in physical, mental, social, and spiritual education.
  • Local Parent Teacher Associations.

 PTA Values -
